Preparing your home for odourless pest control: a simple checklist
By RD Pest Control ·
Chose odourless medicine for your home or office? Here is how to get ready before the visit, what happens on the day, and what to do afterwards.
Choosing odourless medicine means you will not have a noticeable smell in the house after the treatment. That makes life easier for families with small children, elderly parents or anyone sensitive to smells, and for offices and shops that open again soon after the visit.
But a good result still depends on preparation. Odourless is not the same as chemical-free, so the usual care still applies. This checklist covers what to do before, during and after an odourless treatment in Vadodara.
Before the visit
Tell us about the place
When you contact us, share:
- What the problem is (cockroaches, ants, termites, lizards…) and where you see it
- Photos, if you can: a few clear pictures save time on the day
- Who lives or works there: small children, elderly people, pets, anyone with asthma or allergies
- That you would like odourless medicine, so we can confirm it suits your job
We agree the date, time and price with you on the phone before the visit.
Get the rooms ready
- Kitchen: clear the counters, and put food, spices and utensils inside closed cupboards or another room
- Bathrooms: remove toiletries from open shelves and around drains
- Bedrooms and living room: move small items away from the walls so corners and skirting are reachable
- Store rooms: clear a path to the corners, because pests often hide in clutter
- Pets: keep bird cages and aquariums covered or in another room, and pet bowls put away
On the day
The visit starts with an inspection. We look for where the pests hide, enter and breed: gaps around pipes, the back of cabinets, switch boards, drains and damp corners. Then we treat those spots with the odourless option you chose.
- Keep children and pets away from the rooms being treated
- Point out anything we should avoid, such as a puja area or a delicate surface
- Ask questions: we explain what we found and what we did
After the treatment
- Follow the time we give you before cleaning or wiping treated areas
- Do not wash away gel or dust placed in corners or inside switch boards
- Keep food covered and the kitchen dry at night, since cockroaches and ants need water and crumbs
- Open windows for fresh air, even though there is no noticeable smell
- Note where you still see pests over the next days and tell us, so we can advise on the next step
A quick checklist
- Told us the problem, shared photos and asked for odourless
- Food, utensils and toiletries put away
- Corners and cabinets cleared so they can be reached
- Children and pets kept out of the rooms during treatment
- Treated areas left alone for the time we advised
Standard or odourless?
If a mild smell for a while is not a problem, for example in a godown, compound or parking area, our standard medicines are also an option. Read more on odour and odourless pest control, or our guide on odour vs odourless pest control.
